More than 90% of Canadians will need orthopaedic care in their lifetime.
A: North York General is one of Ontario’s leading orthopaedic hospitals. Performing over 1,400 joint replacements each year, we are one of the busiest orthopaedic units in Canada. Our highly skilled staff and physicians provide a wide spectrum of care for more than 20,000 orthopaedic patient visits annually, including management of traumatic injury, joint replacements and surgeries for foot and ankle.
A: All proceeds from OrthoWalk 2017 will support orthopaedic care at North York General, including the purchase of equipment, education of staff, research to improve practices in the field of orthopaedics. A portion of the funds raised from OrthoWalk will also help to support the Dr. Emil Orsini Memorial Fund in support of orthopaedic care.
In October 2008, Dr. Emil Orsini passed away suddenly while on vacation with his wife Joanne in Denmark. An orthopaedic surgeon for 18 years at NYGH, Dr. Orsini was highly respected for his medical skills but also much-loved as a teacher and colleague.
The Orsini family, together with the Orthopaedic Department, also created the Orsini Scholarship - a summer program for medical students.
A: Participants and NYGH orthopaedic surgeons will celebrate together for a symbolic 1km walk through the beautiful gardens surrounding the Hospital. This fun family event will consist of food, treats, music, balloon animals and face painting.
A: Register for OrthoWalk today and help raise funds for orthopaedic care at North York General.
